What's in the box?

Post by Maria Antonietta on Wed 6 Apr - 22:02

Take a guess!

I'd say there's a necklace and Ben Solo's Jedi robe bounce

From the Lor San Tekka thread:

I see a robe folded in the box on the right side that is very similar to LST's, similar color and weaving, a bound book with a necklace or chain wrapped around it, and a red velvet bag with gold trim. Hard to tell what else. In my opinion, that's Ben Solo's trunk from the Jedi Non-Academy days.

Maybe it is standard issue and LST was also at the Jedi training place, perhaps as a teacher of Jedi philosophy?

Weird that I automatically assumed LST to be Force Sensitive - probably because he reminds me of old Obi Wan.

It could be Ben Solo's box...the thing below the saber, it looks like some button on Vader's suit. Luke could keep something to remember his father and give it to Ben

Is this the same box as the one where Obi-Wan Kenobi kept Anakins lightsaber for Luke in ANH?

I assume that we should be hearing the title of this thread as read in Brad Pitt's voice from Se7en? Smile

I'm on board with it being Ben Solo's box from the Jedi temple. Although I guess that would mean that Maz would have to have stolen the whole box, and not just the lightsaber when she did so?

@ISeeAnIsland

It could be that the packing-of-Ben's-box and the recovery of the lightsaber happened on two separate occasions, and Maz just put the saber in the trunk later.

Theres a theory that Lor San Tekka is Obi Wan's child and is in fact Rey's father...which I hope is not true because Ren murdered him. That would put a nail in the coffin of Reylo forever.

It looks like a child's outfit in that box. could be Ben solos keepsakes/ Maz's keepsakes..she is tiny

Its not the same necklace I dont think

The box itself doesn't have any particular meaning. We're never going to see it again. That rosary is definitely a "Chain of Wisdom" though. There might be a connection to make here between Maz and the Church of the Force. Considering how old she is, it's reasonable to assume she has some ties to that order.

In the Visual Dictionary in the Maz bit it shows a box (looks like the one being discussed) and calls it Maz's curio box.

As for the contents (they didn't want to let the game away if it is the same one):

Diatium Power Core - which was the primary power source for lightsabers and a critical component of a lightsaber hilt.
Four-thousand year old hyperspace sextant - an instrument used in hyperspace navigation
Possibly a fusion cutter head - which was a cutting torch

It says in the description Maz's treasures
In her centuries of travel, Maz has collected countless trinkets and treasures, not to sell but to protect.  She has seen the tide of dark and light ebb and flow across the galaxy, and believes that a relic from the past may someday make a difference to the future.

Now the box could be a completely different box - but it does seem a little odd to include a box in the Visual Dictionary and it not be the one in question.  Otherwise it's just a box and what is there to care about?

I, too, did the Brad Pitt "What's in the boooooooxxxxxxx?!!" in my head

Man if Kylo killed Rey's father or grandfather, I agree, that would just about do it for Reylo. Sad
